On this day in 1937 Amelia Earhart was seven days away from beginning her second attempt to fly around the world. Her first attempt ended in Hawaii when her Lockheed had to be shipped back to Oakland for repairs. For the second attempt she decided to fly east instead of west. Common wisdom tells us that the flight ended in disaster. I know differently and so will you by visiting
