May 23 - Amelia Earhart Flies From New Orleans to Miami
Before she leaves New Orleans, Amelia sends a telegram to her navigator's wife reassuring her that Fred is only drinking milk. History indicates that Noonan was an alcoholic subject to frequent relapses. Fully aware of his history, Amelia nevertheless chose him as her navigator.
